Effect of Plant Growth Regulators on Creeping Bentgrass during Heat, Salt, and Combined Stress

چکیده

Creeping bentgrass ( Agrostis stolonifera L.) is a turfgrass species that widely used on golf courses throughout the United States. In field settings, plants are often subjected to more than one stress at time, and studying stresses independently likely insufficient. Stresses, such as heat salt stress, can affect plant hormone levels and, in turn, how well tolerates stress. The objectives of experiments were determine if would be detrimental creeping health, applying growth regulators could improve health during During first experiment, was transplanted hydroponics systems two different chambers. One chamber set have day night temperatures 35 °C 30 (heat stress), respectively, other had 25 20 °C, respectively. Within each chamber, block received 50 mM NaCl treatment (salt stress) did not (control). treatments applied for 14 days. Results experiment indicated sufficient negatively by fresh shoot root weights, tillering, electrolyte leakage, total chlorophyll content (TCC). PGR consisted gibberellic acid (GA) synthesis inhibitor products, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, rates aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG), an ethylene suppressor, with PGR. addition measurements growth, dry measured. Heat Shock Proteins in Relation to Heat Stress Tolerance of Creeping Bentgrass at Different N Levels

Heat stress is a primary factor causing summer bentgrass decline. Changes in gene expression at the transcriptional and/or translational level are thought to be a fundamental mechanism in plant response to environmental stresses. Heat stress redirects protein synthesis in higher plants and results in stress protein synthesis, particularly heat shock proteins (HSPs). The goal of this work was to...

Metabolic Effects of Acibenzolar-S-Methyl for Improving Heat or Drought Stress in Creeping Bentgrass

Acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) is a synthetic functional analog of salicylic acid which can induce systemic acquired resistance in plants, but its effects on abiotic stress tolerance is not well known. The objectives of this study were to examine effects of acibenzolar-S-methyl on heat or drought tolerance in creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera) and to determine major ASM-responsive metabolite...

Creeping Bentgrass Cultivar Influences Biocontrol

Printed on recycled paper SUMMER 2001 24 A Healthy Ecosystem Inconsistent performance of biological control strategies for turfgrass disease control has limited the adoption of this technology into IPM programs. A major contributing factor to this variable performance in agricultural systems is the cultivar to which biological control organisms are applied. In a recent study, our goal was to de...
